THE NEEDY OF CHESTER

Chester City is alive, A place where all the tourists thrive.
But it is also where the needy dwell, And lie for them is really hell.

They try to find a place to rest, And for all of whom it is a test.
Cold and hungry often alone, Most of them without a phone.

The nights are long and often cold, And so many suffer young and old.
Trying to hselter from the rain, Often full of aches and pain.

Next morning its another day, Spent passing endless hours away.
Finding food isn't always easy, Making many feel quite queezy.

The needy have alwas had it tough, Every day they live is rough.
And now it's time for us to pamper, with a special Christmas Hamper.

Our church has given generously, And I think that all of us agree.
To feed the people who need so much, It really is a Christian touch.

So when we all sit down to share, Our turkey and our Christmas Fayre.
Let's spare a thought for those we meet, Who spend their lives out on the street.

After the murder of young Rhys Jones, BBC News interviewed a youth worker in the Merseyside area; he spoke strongly of the idea of community being the key to solving the gang-type crimes we're facing in the UK. Being a youth worker myself, I know the positive affects that we can have on young people and their communities...Does the government need to get behind youth workers and their work in the community more?
